Club History

Sproughton Football Club has records of a team as early as 1912 but they first entered the Saturday Ipswich & District League in 1921. They reformed and re-entered into the league in their present format as Sproughton Sports in 1977. Two of the players from that year are still playing in the Reserves team! 
 
The Reserve team was formed in 1984 and that season the club won the Giantkiller Award. The First Eleven has twice competed in Division 1 of the SIL but have not been amongst the trophies for many years. 
 
Sproughton are very much a village Club, being one of the sections of the Sports Club, and thrive on being family based with some players being from the fourth generation to play for the Club
