Club History |
Ransomes Sports Football Club originated as Fisons Football Club which was formed in 1948. In 1993 Fisons PLC agreed to lease the sports ground at Bent lane, Rushmere to Ipswich Town FC which meant that Fisons FC, together with the other users of the sports ground found themselves without a home. The football club changed its name to Rushmere Athletic and for season 1993/94 played at Copleston School. The following season 1994/95, the club played its fixtures at Gainsborough Sports Centre and during that season started to train at Ransomes Sports Club, Ipswich. With the old Ransomes Football Club folding at the end of season 1994/95, Rushmere Athletic were invited by Ransomes Sports Club to play their games at Sidegate Avenue for the 1995/96 season. The following season this arrangement became permanent and with effect from season 1997/98 the club changed its name to Ransomes Sports FC.
