Club History |
Leiston St. Margarets was started in 1895 by players who could not get a game in the town unless they worked on Leiston works. They called themselves Leiston Alexandra, and Joined the rebel Football Association. The two Associations joined together soon after this. The Club continued until after the first world war from which very few of the Players and Officials returned. After this it was run by the Church Youth Club and changed its name to Leiston St. Margarets. The Reverend Blackett was the man who ran the club for many years until he retired and moved to Leicester. The land at the Club was owned by the Reverend Blackett and not the Church as most people think. The Club Purchased the Freehold in 1958. The Club has played in various Leagues since being formed - The Leiston and District League, The Lowestoft and District League, The East Anglian League and The Suffolk and Ipswich League.
